Identification Requirements
PRIVATE CLIENTS
Personal documentation and proof of address has to be shown to the notary for identification.
This can include:
- Current signed passport / ID card and one of the following
- Current photo-card driving licence
- Recent gas, electricity or other household bill (issued within the last three months)
- Bank statement (issued within the last three months)
If, for some reason, these documents cannot be provided, the notary will advise you on how best your identity can be proved.
BUSINESS CLIENTS
Actual existence of the company or organisation you represent needs to be proved and in many cases the authorisation to represent that company or organisation is also required. Therefore the following information has to be provided:
- Full name of the company
- Registered address
- Names of 2 directors
- Nature of business
In some cases (particularly for companies or organisations established overseas) certain documents may be required. These might include a certificate of incorporation, good standing certificate and other similar evidence. If your authority to represent a company or organisation must be certified, additional documentation will be required, for example:
- Constitutional documents (e.g. memorandum and articles of association)
- Power of Attorney
- Chamber of Commerce certificate
- Board Resolutions
- Authorised signatory book (in the case of banks)
